Wait on the Lord Wait here in quiet Wait on the Lord Wait here in silence He will not grow faint, He will not grow cold Through the dark of night His saints, he’ll hold Wait on the Lord Wait here in quiet Wait on the Lord Wait here in silence Jesus is our rest, We’ll forever sing Oh his crown has bowed All other kings Jesus is our rest, And to him we’ll cling Oh his blood has quieted  all things Wait on the Lord Wait here in quiet Wait on the Lord Wait here in silence

In the desert Hagar’s well ran dry Shadows round her, despair on all sides Thirsty soul, heartbreak “Did I trust by mistake?” Then she heard the Lord call in the night Wherever you come from Wherever you’re going There’s rest for the sojourn, a table for you I see the beaten, the broken, forgotten Come pilgrim rest, a table for you In the house of the LORD Hannah sighed Tears for food, drunk with grief in the night Grieved and mocked is the tomb Of a long-barren womb So she called on the LORD of the fight Wherever you come from Wherever you’re going There’s rest for the sojourn, a table for you I see the beaten, the broken, forgotten Come pilgrim rest, a table for you In the tomb there’s no corpse in her sight Mary crushed, was he taken in spite? Precious body she needs Just to hold as she weeps So she cries to the Lord of her life In the garden He comes to our side Speaks our names, He now brings us to life Broken hearts, now are freed From all terror and grief And so all that is dead comes to life Wherever you come from Wherever you’re going There’s rest for the sojourn, a table for you I see the beaten, the broken, forgotten Come pilgrim rest, a table for you

Sweeping across chaotic waters Building an ark for sons and daughters Saving your people through the sea Crossing the river to milk and honey All praise to you the fount of every blessing For bringing water from the rock, life-giving For bringing us up from the river’s depths We give thanks o'er the water Then your salvation came to bloom Nurtured in the water of a womb Baptized in that river that Israel crossed Called to sink and rise for the lost All praise to you the fount of every blessing For bringing water from the rock, life-giving For bringing us up from the river’s depths We give thanks o'er the water Now pour out on us your Holy Spirit Bless the water when we receive it Wash away our guilty stains And clothe us to live with him who reigns All praise to you the fount of every blessing For bringing water from the rock, life-giving For bringing us up from the river’s depths We give thanks o'er the water All Praise to you Eternal Father God, Through your son Jesus Christ our Lord, Who with you and the Holy Spirit Lives and reigns forever! We give thanks o'er the water Who lives and reigns forever
4.
Out of depths I cry to you Turn your ear and hear my voice Out of depths I call to you Hear my cry for mercy I wait for you, my Lord, my God more than watchmen for the morn In your word I put my hope I wait for you, O God If you, Lord, record my sins I am crushed down by their weight But forgiveness comes from you, So that I may live and serve I wait for you, my Lord, my God more than watchmen for the morn In your word I put my hope I wait for you, O God All Saints, put your hope in Christ For He is unfailing love In him is redemption full Salvage from all our sin
5.
Why do you hide, LORD? Turn your face away? Veil your gaze? Why take your leave, LORD? And abandon me? LORD you flee Return and deliver me, my God Hear my cry Open your eyes, look on my life, Or I die I bear my pain, LORD, Suffering alone LORD I groan My foes, they arise, LORD:  I fall at their might And in that they delight Return and deliver me, my God Hear my cry. Open your eyes, look on my life, Or I die Yet I have hope, LORD, In your true embrace I will know grace
6.
Salvation unto us has come by God’s free grace and favor. Our works cannot avert our doom; the law can save us never. Faith looks to Jesus Christ alone, who for his people did atone; he is our one Redeemer. What God did in his law demand and none to him could render caused wrath and woe on ev'ry hand for man, the vile offender. Our flesh has not the pure desires God's holy law of us requires, and lost is our condition. Yet as the law must be fulfilled or we must die despairing, Christ Jesus came; God’s wrath he stilled, our human nature sharing. The law he has for us obeyed and thus the Father’s vengeance stayed which over us had rulèd. All blessing, honor, thanks, and praise to Father, Son, and Spirit, the God who saved us by his grace-- all glory to his merit! O triune God in heav’n above, who has revealed your saving love, your blessèd name be hallowed.
7.
Be known to us in breaking bread, but do not then depart; Savior, abide with us, and spread your table in our heart. Thy body, broken for my sake, my bread from heaven shall be; thy cup of blessing I will take, and thus remember thee. Here share with us, in love divine, your body and your blood, that living bread, that heavenly wine be our immortal food, be our immortal food, be our immortal food!

about

Come Pilgrim Rest is a collection of seven songs that sits somewhere between personal songs of devotion and congregational songs of worship. The album reflects the terrain of several spiritual journeys over several years, but at its core, emerged from living through the season of harried weariness that comes with raising three small children, the daily emotional exhaustion of a broken political landscape, and a quarantined world on fire.

In the midst of the rat race, anxieties, and heavy burdens, is there rest to find? And who can provide it? Jesus answers in the gospel of Matthew: "Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy burdened, and I will give you rest."
